José Luís Aguilar's artistic journey is a testament to the enduring power of passion and dedication. Born in the picturesque town of Vila Nova da Barquinha in 1952, Aguilar's early years were marked by a deep-seated love for the arts, a passion that would eventually shape his life's path.

Although his artistic pursuits took a backseat for a time, Aguilar's creative spirit never waned. In 1997, he found himself drawn back to the canvas, immersing himself in the vibrant art scene of Lisbon. It was here, at Arco, that he rediscovered his love for painting and drawing, laying the foundation for a prolific artistic career that would span decades.

In 2010, Aguilar made a decisive return to painting, embarking on a journey of artistic exploration and self-discovery. Fuelled by a desire to refine his craft, he enrolled in the National Society of Fine Arts (SNBA), where he completed the fourth year of his painting course, honing his skills under the guidance of seasoned mentors and fellow artists.

Aguilar's artistic prowess extends beyond the canvas; he is also a published author, co-authoring the book "10 Years of Universidade Sénior Montijo," a testament to his multifaceted talents and intellectual curiosity.

As a member of esteemed institutions such as the National Society of Fine Arts and Artiset, the Association of Plastic Artists from Setúbal, Aguilar has firmly established himself within the artistic community, earning recognition for his contributions to the cultural landscape of Portugal.

Throughout his career, Aguilar has showcased his works in numerous collective exhibitions and solo shows, captivating audiences with his distinctive style and evocative imagery. His art, characterized by its depth, emotion, and technical mastery, has found its way into private collections both at home and abroad, cementing his status as a celebrated artist on the international stage.
