About

RVieira born in 1951, in Alcobaça, Portugal. Lives and works in Coimbra, Portugal. Worked as a nurse but also as an artist. She studied ceramics and painting at the Escola Universitária das Artes de Coimbra (EUAC). She has been working in sculpture, installations, conservation, ceramics, furniture, and paintings. She also learned and worked together with artists like Isabel Azevedo, António Melo, Vítor Matias and João Dixo. She is a member of the SNBA – Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes.

Her work is related to the naturalism art style, though without a social critic. Art style that aims to depict objects and scenes as they appear in reality, often with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail. She follows the style of many Portuguese naturalistic artists. Silva Porto is one of those artists because he was a Portuguese painter associated with the Realist and Naturalist movements. These movements emerged in the 19th century as a response to Romanticism, emphasizing an objective and truthful representation of the world. Artists like Silva Porto sought to depict everyday life with precision and accuracy.

RVieira wants to be known for landscape paintings and genre scenes that depict the rural life of Portugal. Her works often featured rural landscapes and everyday activities, capturing the essence of Portuguese rural and city life with a keen eye for detail.

On the other hand, she can also be associated with the style of the Portuguese painter and Impressionist José Malhoa. José Malhoa was one of the leading Portuguese artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and he was influenced by the Impressionist movement that had gained prominence in France. RVieira, like many Impressionists, as well as José Malhoa, also explores urban scenes. Her paintings captured the bustling life of Lisbon, reflecting the modernization and changing urban landscape in the same way Malhoa did in the late 19th century.

RVieira often employs loose and visible brushstrokes to convey a sense of spontaneity and immediacy. RVieira, too, adopts a freer brushwork style in his Impressionist-influenced works, emphasizing the play of light and color in his compositions.
