The Story of Royal Treasure Museum

Where is Royal Treasure Museum?

Visitors

Artists

Each artist invited to participate in this exhibition must choose a piece from the jewelry collection of the Royal Treasure Museum as the starting point for the creation or selection of their artwork.

The curatorial proposal invites the establishment of a visual and symbolic dialogue between the contemporary artwork and the historical jewel, with a particular focus on light, colour and form.  The artwork may be new or pre-existing, as long as it formally dialogues with the theme.

Museu Exhibition Style

In many historic museums and classical galleries, paintings were traditionally displayed using a method known as “salon-style hanging.”
This approach originated in European art exhibitions of the 17th–19th centuries, where artworks were arranged side by side and stacked vertically from floor to ceiling along the walls.

In this style, paintings are placed closely together with minimal spacing, often forming a dense visual composition.

Larger works are usually positioned at eye level, while smaller paintings are arranged above and below them to fill the entire wall surface.

Frames may touch or be separated by only a few centimeters, creating a continuous display of artworks.
